Parents of children with special needs: among the challenges facing many parents is support and care of their young children who are either born with special needs or develop such needs early in life. It is important to note that behavioral and mental disorders in children may represent an adaptive response to adverse circumstances. In such situations interventions need to focus on improving the child's circumstances in addition to addressing the behavioral or Mental disorder.
Family preservation services are family focused services designed to assist families in crisis by improving parenting and family functioning while keeping children safe. Children need a safe and stable family. These services are build upon the conviction that they many children can be safely protected and treated within their homes while parents are provided with services and support that empower them to change their lives.
It is a process where a group of clients with similar issues or concerns meet as a group with a Social Worker/Counselor to discuss those issues and to learn about and share information and solutions about those issues.
